What we do
Eltra operates in the market of sensors for automated systems since 1985. During these 40+ years the Company has constantly grown, increasing its technology offer (over 4.000 product codes and an average of 120.000 articles manufactured each year) while maintaining the flexibility and the capability to design and manufacture customized products according to the Customer specific needs, features that have always distinguished the brand Eltra.
The company offers an extensive range of catalog products (incremental and absolute rotary encoders, explosion-proof models, rope and magnetic encoders; linear and optical incremental systems working also with field-bus interfaces, several accessories etc.), as well as a service of Project & Development of models upon Client’s requirement.
Corporate history
Like many other successful companies, Eltra began as a entrepreneurial dream started in a garage. But what initially was just a sort of an hobby, became rapidly a solid business project and in 1985 the company Eltra was formed and established in the current Sarego premises.
Since then Eltra has experienced a constant growth and development, both nationwide and abroad, that lead during the 2000’s decade to the establishment of two strategic branches in Slovakia and China.
In 2004 Eltra becomes a limited company and in 2008 joins Avago Technologies group, now a Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO) group company, which contributes to extend its technological know-how and to consolidate its presence in the global market, without affecting although Eltra’s Italian identity and the quality trademark typical of the Made in Italy.
Mission
Along its more than 40 years of activity, there have been many changes within (and outside) Eltra. The Company has however kept focused on the same purpose in the course of time: developing and manufacturing more and more innovative encoders, designed to meet the Client’s needs in terms of efficiency and quality, as well as of costs.
Eltra is aware that to reach this goal is essential to invest in the know-how and expertise of its human resources, the real heritage of the Company, thanks to whom the firm has kept on growing and improving for three decades by now.

Eltra has a sales network that covers all the national territory and the main international markets, with distributors in over 50 Countries.
Already consolidated in the Italian market, in 2003 Eltra feels the need to increase its production and founds a new operation branch in Samorin, Slovakia, inside an industrial area established, together with Eltra, by several Italian companies working in the mechatronic sector.
Thanks to this new production site, strategically close to the Eastern and Northern European markets, Eltra has been able to increase – both in terms of quantity and of competitiveness of prices – the manufacturing of some of the components that form the encoder, which are sent to the headquarters of Sarego for the assembly and testing procedures.
In the latest decades the Asian markets have experienced an extraordinary process of acceleration and growth; the Chinese industry in particular, has achieved in the past years an outstanding role in the global economy, becoming the productive and commercial core among the Eastern Countries.
For this reason, Eltra established in 2007 a branch in the China Republic, which has currently become a commercial business partner where the technology of Eltra’s encoders is promoted among the Asian manufacturers who trust in the quality and reliability of our devices Made in Italy.
